Hello everyone and hello 2017 ☺
Finally found the time to sit down and jot down my trip to Tokyo with my family just last week.
So the 6 of us embarked our trip with ScootBiz (so comfy) and i caught the sunrise on the plane!
We had some trouble finding our apartment at Asakusa but managed to after detouring on foot for more than half an hour sigh.
Visited the famous Nakasime-Dori street of Asakusa and boy it was so captivating. Sensoji was so crowded with people we left for lunch at the next street and chanced upon this local shop which sells very good rice bowl.
"The journey has just begun!" - i thought to myself that very day.
Day 2 we visited the Tsukiji Fish Market.
We gave the tuna auction a miss and instead we queued for the famous Sushi Daiwa!
The photo may not do justice to the quality of the sashimi but it was so goooood, my grandpa finished the entire platter himself - i was amazed.
And along the way, we had their popular Tamago sticks, beef bowl, puffer fish sashimi ~
Owl Cafe at Akihabara was up for the night.
These little creatures are so delicate you'll be surprised how shy they can be.
DisneySea! Thanks to Carousell we saved almost half the ticket price.
The rain did not stop us from heading in and look at my grandpa with his 'Haters gonna hate' beanie hehe.
Managed to take a few rides and oh, this Tiramisu ice cream was the highlight - at least for me! Weather there was so cold the ice cream didn't melt one bit after holding it for 15 mins.
Caught a few shows and ended the day with Ippudo ramen, Ichiran's much better!
Day 4 we moved out to a new apartment near Shibuya, the distance to the apartment made up for everything here.
Visited Harajuku (probably one of the easiest train station - side track: i got so confused by all the lines they have in Tokyo but i've to admit they're really convenient and brings you everywhere) and here we have the freshly fried Calbee+ potato sticks!
Along the streets we grabbed crepes and Starbucks, i love their tumbler!
The following day was Nissin Cup Noodle Museum day!
The kid in us grew when we saw all the instant noodles and was so amazed by the development throughout the years.
We got to decorate our very own cup noodles, choose the flavours and condiments we want in our own noodles.
But nope, i'm not planning to eat them.
Went to Venus Fort after that then to this seafood place at Shibuya - look at grandpa standing at the entrance just when i was about to snap this picture, this is totally a coincidence.
Oh, and in Japan, they have freebies like tote bags, wallets, sling bags, cosmetics and many more together with the magazines so there you have it, i bought one for myself!
- When in Japan, be like a Japanese.
Day 6 was FOOD DAY.
We beat the queue and head straight for Aoyama Flower Market early in the morning and was first in queue! 🌹🌷🌵The place was so pretty and they even incorporate the flowers in their food, beverages, fragrance and lotion.
After that we head to Dominique Ansel Bakery for their famous torched marshmallow ice-cream and cookie shot (milk in the cookie cup!). It was so gooood!
Then down the streets of Omotesando we queued another half an hour for Luke's lobster.
We were sold by the generous amount of lobster they gave and it cost less than SGD15!
Everywhere in Tokyo, you queue for what you want, but some are just so worth.
The last one of the day was Ichiran Ramen!!
Beat all the ramen in Singapore hands down ✋
On 31st which is also the last day of the year, we went on a day tour to Mount Fuji.
Thankful for the clear weather we were able to have a clear view of Fuji the whole time. A little pity tho we were unable to go up to fifth station.
Hans went to get a cone of the Khoyo grape ice cream and it was so good in that chilly weather!
I always love eating ice cream during winter season and this trip i accomplished that many time hehe.
At the end of the day we had Shabu Shabu steamboat at Shibuya, then we bought some crabs and prawns on our way back to the apartment to cook.
It was the best of 2016.
The last 2 days of the trip we went to Mitsui Outlet and got a few things for ourselves.
No photos for that day cos everyone was so busy doing our last min shopping.
Dinner was at a random ramen stall near our last apartment and i will never forget the hospitality of the Japanese owner, so humble and polite.
Grandpa grew to like ramen, he actually chose ramen over Chinese food when we gave him a choice!
The last photo was captured when we were on the plane departing Tokyo.
Look at those snow capped mountains! We even caught a glimpse of Fuji on the plane.
Though there were certain disagreements during the trip, just glad things are okay now, or at least it appears to be.
Self-planned trip was never easy but it's the experience and things you see, difficulties you face and how you solve.
Really hope we are all able to go on another trip together, soon.
A brand new year now, no resolutions this year, only hope things will fall in place.
Hello once again, 2017.
